Hello, I\u2019m Dhanushka Bandara, a first-year doctoral candidate in the faculty of nuclear physics. I\u2019m working on the P2 experiment at the newly built MESA particle accelerator. I designed the\u201cStepwise<\/strong> Pneumatic<\/strong> INcremental<\/strong> DEtector<\/strong> Module<\/strong> Navigator<\/strong>(SPIN DEMON<\/strong>)\u201d mechanism for rotating the P2 tracking detector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a doctoral student representative, my goal is to reach out to all doctoral students at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and represent their interests at the university level. As spokesperson for the DoV, I serve (together with my co-workers Jan and Max) as a bridge between the doctoral student community and the university administration. The DoV is a relatively new but nonetheless strong voice for the university\u2019s doctoral students, and it is an honor for me to help further strengthen that voice. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nick Rassau<\/strong> – Computer Science<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hi, I’m Nick. I’m obtaining a doctorate in FB08 at the Institute of Computer Science. My research focuses on information systems, with a primary emphasis on Datalog (which is a programming language) and its evaluation. I decided to run for the doctoral student council so that I can keep the doctoral candidates at our institute informed and gain insight into the university\u2019s processes. I\u2019m also looking forward to interacting with the Federal Association of Doctoral Students to bring nationwide information to Mainz. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
